There's no need to post multiple times about the same issue.

First make sure that your APN settings are configured correctly.

Text "APN" to 50048 and follow the instructions here:

Then follow the instructions here to set up the hotspot

1.Select Settings
2.Select Mobile Data and Mobile Data Options
3.Select Mobile Data Network
4.Scroll to MOBILE DATA
5. Scroll to Personal Hotspot and enter APN 48months.liffeytelecom.com
6.Press the Back button to complete “

The problem is that Apple add another hoop to jump through and it isn't immediately obvious how to get past this.

In this case the personal hotspot option doesn't even appear and the iPhone tells the user to contact their network provider.

it’s just on 48 the iPhone doesn’t populate the Personal Hotspot APN by default which is always visible in APN settings. it just needs to be entered before the Personal Hotspot setting appears.

It's not just on 48 that this happens.

It happens on other networks too.

And the iPhone stupidly tells the user to contact their carrier when it's totally unnecessary.

Just another way that Apple/iPhones make things unnecessarily complicated for some users.

No it’s not just 48 but a lot of bigger networks have it filled in by default.

That message doesn’t appear, it only appeared in that video as that person entered a random phrase into the Personal Hotspot APN which caused the message to appear as it wasn’t a correct APN.

If 48months.liffeytelecom.com is entered into the Personal Hotspot APN field from the beginning there will be no problem.

Even when I go and text APN on 50048 it says the handset does not support this service even though I have my 48 sim inserted

iPhones don’t support configuration messages so you have to do it manually.

Settings > Mobile Service/Mobile Data > Mobile Data Network

Mobile Data > APN > 48months.liffeytelecom.com

MMS > APN > 48months.liffeytelecom.com
MMS > MMSC > http://mmc1/servlets/mms
MMS > MMS Proxy > 10.1.11.19:8080

Personal Hotspot > APN > 48months.liffeytelecom.com

Restart your phone and it should be working then. The ‘Personal Hotspot’ setting will show up in settings
