Has roaming ever worked abroad?

Been to the UK and other places in Europe numerous times and just recently back from the UK. Tried every single troubleshooting step including deleting and re-adding the APNs as well as resetting the sim on the 48 sim tool kit. Tried different devices and contacting support. I can get calls and text but no data.

This is now becoming a major inconvenience and what's the point in having a cheap sim here when I have to start buying local sims when I should be able to use my allowance abroad.

Has anyone ever successfully been able to use data roaming abroad within the EU, is there any official word from 48 on a potential fix or what the issue is and can anyone recommend a 48 alternative that works abroad?
