Can't text using roaming in spain

Why can't I text? I'm in Spain and I've paid for roaming add ons before I left Ireland - but I can still only get and use iMessage when I'm in a wifi zone.... why?

You seem to be using an iPhone in which case it's almost certainly this issue due to the stupid way that Apple do things.

You may have to be persistent and try that tip many times before it works.

Toggling airplane mode on and off and trying it quickly may help to catch the local network as it connects briefly.

This problem hits many iPhone users due to the stupid way that Apple do things.

As I mentioned you may have to be persistent to get that to working and out can take many attempts before it works.
