48 don't support data roaming abroad at all.

When abroad you can only access the internet through wifi where available.

There are no roaming data add-ons.

oh ok i didnt realise this at all, i am also having difficulty with a lot of the wi-fi . connecting to it. I have manage in a couple of places but mainly even the open wi-fi other people can log on to i cannot

Wifi problems have nothing to do with 48 or the local carrier when roaming abroad.

If you have problems connecting to open wifi hotspots that others can use then it's an issue with your phone/software/configuration.

Are you sure that you have wifi enabled?!
